As co-founder and co-director of Deeds and Words, Ruth supports organisations to build progressive and effective cultures which bring out the best in individuals. Using her wealth of experience, she helps leaders to design and implement strategies that deliver real change. Ruth – an expert in non-financial risk - helps senior teams, organisations and communities create cultures and values that work.

Academia, research and writing

As a Visiting Fellow at Jesus College Cambridge and former President of the Oxford University Student Union, Ruth brings an academic rigour to her work while priding herself on being accessible to colleagues, clients and audiences regardless of their background and knowledge. Ruth holds honorary degrees from Exeter and Keele, and an honorary fellowship from Cardiff University. Ruth is currently examining the latest evidence on the implications of hybrid working on effectiveness, morale and inclusion.

Campaigning

Campaigning is at the heart of what drives Ruth, and she is tireless in trying to create change for the better. She is a cross-bench peer in the House of Lords, a parliamentary representative on the Council of Europe and was CEO of Stonewall between 2014 and 2019. Ruth also works with faith communities and is passionate about diversity and inclusion.
